Battling Boredom

Blackpatch nodded wearily as she explained. "I believe Raptoreyes and her apprentice found him. He's been wandering around our territory for quite some time, actually. Jadestar herself talked to him, and he's part of the Clan, at least for now." She lashed her tail irritably. "He's an alright hunter, but it's fighters we need, and he seems kind of . . . wimpy."

[Kite]

^{Ribbonblade nodded in agreement to Blackpatch's description and looked at Halloween again. "So instead of chasing rogues out of the territory, we're to invite them into our camp?" She mewed wryly, not expecting an answer. No point in introducing herself; the she-cat didn't know if she wanted to be on a first-name basis with a newcomer.}

[Kite]

^{Ribbonblade snorted under her breath but said nothing out of respect for the older warrior. A few moments later she mewed, "If you're all going on a patrol, I'd like to come. I haven't been out of camp all day."}

[Sable]

Blackpatch rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I've been out for a good while. I'm going back to camp for a break. I have an apprentice to see to." She shot Raptoreyes a meaningful glance before swinging around, prey in tow, back towards their Island camp.

[Kite]

^{Ribbonblade yawned boredly, her white canines catching the sun. "Right, so, who's left for the patrol?" she asked nobody in particular, seeing that the only other cats not busy were both rogues. "I guess its been cancelled. You know where camp is, right?" The she-cat asked Midnight, hoping selfishly that she wouldn't have to show them.}

[Sable]

Blackpatch nodded, answering Ribbonblade's question. Midnight can show Halloween the camp or the territory, whatever they wish." She glanced at the blue-grey she-cat. "Are you coming back to camp with me, or hunting some more?" She turned in the direction of the camp.

[Kite]

^{"You go on. The thought of going back to camp right now makes my fur bristle. I'll hunt some." Ribbonblade flicked her tail and plunged into the water, heading for the shore of Big Claw island. She waded onto land, shaking her wet fur before continuing into the bracken, treading lightly and scenting the air for prey.}

_{Midnight had reached the shore and was shaking out his fur when he heard their commentary. He bristled a little, then his easygoing nature got the better of him. "Actually, I'm not staying. I just had dropped in for a hello, and I see you all seem to have ticks in your fur or something, so I guess I'll be on my way." As he passed Halloween, whom he had not fully come to trust, he narrowed his eyes, muttering, "I don't know what Jadestar saw in you, but if you do one thing wrong, I'll be slashing you to ribbons." He returned to his normal self and blended in with the brush, seeming to melt into the shadows one last time.}
