(( Lol. HalloweenxRaptoreyes, perhaps? )) Ringpaw shot his mentor a questioning glance. Then he shrugged. He'd never understand the mind of a she-cat, no matter how old. He dared to take a kitten-step forward and give the tom a curious sniff. "If you've been hanging around before, you hid pretty good."

Halloween appeared a bit surprised that these two cats would calm down so quickly. In any case, his own black and orange fur on his back flattened and he even sat down, tail curling close to him. His eyes fell down as Ringpaw sniffed him. His eyes dnaced back up towards Raptoreyes as he explained himself. "I'm a loner, and I travel a lot. But recently I've been wandering mostly around IslandClan turf- the scent must have rubbed off a bit on me. I mean no harm here, I'm only looking for some food." He did like the territory here for some reason, hunting was good here, and it was realtively easy turf to walk on. A few times he'd seen the island off shore and wanted to go see it, but he didn't dare. "I'm Halloween by the way." He introduced himself with a small bow of his head.

Ringpaw felt even more confused by his mentor's actions. Normally, Raptoreyes would have leapt on the intruder with a screech and a snarl, no hesitation at all. His mind wandered to what would happen if they brought the loner back to camp as a prisoner -- the imagined praise of the other apprentices rang in his head. Hey, look! A loner! Did Ringpaw capture him all on his own? He's the eldest of us all! It won't be long before he's made a warrior. Ringpaw danced a few steps to the right, tail swishing impatiently. "Well?" he mewed to Raptoreyes. "Is he our prisoner, or do we run 'im outta here?"

The loner kept his attention focused on both cats, and he was slightly more alert then normal. He had no way of knowing if this was a trick or not. He kept quite as they conversed. Prisoner? That did not sound pleasent to him. He'd spend most of his life staying out of the Clan's way, last thing he wanted was to become a prisoner of one. He stepped foreword, a frown on his muzzle. "Don't talk like I'm not listening. I don't want to be a prisoner /obviously/, and I really don't want to join a clan. Why do you think I'm a loner? " He sighed and glanced towards the sky. "I'm sorry if I sound mean, but I don't think I'd fit in well, and I don't think I could become a 'loyal member of the clan', as you say. If you still want to take me in, then fine- I'll go along quitely. Don't expect me to not take the first chance to leave though..." Gosh he felt harsh saying that, considering they could have ganged up and double teamed him.

Ringpaw cocked his head. He wondered how his currently lovestruck mentor would take this. "Well," he said, "You don't have to join the Clan. And even if you wanted to, we'd still have to take the matter up with Taintedstar -- she's our leader. But regardless of what you want to do, it's probably best if you come back to our camp with us. Taintedstar's gonna want to know who's been on our territory so long and why. Have fun explaining!" He finished with a mischievious grin.

Halloween threw a glare towards Ringpaw as he finished speaking. Oh wasn't he pleasent? He considered commenting on his words, when Raptoreyes spoke, and angrily. Halloween quickly returned to his defensive posture, tail brisled out, ears folded back. He was ready if she decided to attack. "I'm leaving... I'm leaving... jeeze. Don't worry I won't be back, you won't have to see me again." He said defensively before turning and starting to walk/run away from the two of them.

Ringpaw flicked his tail. "D'you think we can take his word?" he said, glancing at his mentor. (( XD So short, sorreh. ))

"Er, okay!" He darted after the loner, eager to get away from the moody warrior. He could see his haunches beginning to disappear; Ringpaw gave Halloween's flank a quick jab, not very hard, shooting him an apologetic glance.

The sunlight dappled the jet fur of the she-cat as she sat in the boughs of a tree. She enjoyed the sunshine; the recent problems caused by darkClan and its issues were leaving a lot of stress on the she-cat. She had slipped away from the path as the rest of IslandClan returned to the camp, and she licked a paw lazily and drew it over her head. Jadestar was not normally one to lounge; the young leader almost always had work to do, but everything looked alright so far, and she was sure her deputy could handle any issues that arose.
As a black-and-orange loner passed below her, jadestar watched with interest. Ringpaw chased him, jabbing out at him, and the she-cat leapt silently into the boughs of the next tree. "You seem to be in a bit of trouble," She meowed to Halloween, a friendly glint in her namesake eyes. He seemed to be a fairly decent cat, not badly oriented like the usual rogue in the territory. Her whiskers twitched in amusement; she knew Ringpaw didn't really hurt the loner.

Halloween thought for a moment he'd made his escape and was home free to head somewhere else for now. Then he heard the pawsteps of Ringpaw, and felt the jab on his flank. He yowled lightly, glancing over to catch the glance. What was with these cats? They seemed all too nice to him, he was a tresspasser, a prey thief, and the apprentice felt sorry about chasing him out and giving him a little reminder? Could the clans have gone soft?
His train of thought was interupted as another cat's voice caught his attention. His pace slowed down considerably and his eyes focused onto the jade ones of the leader, of course he had no idea this was who the leader was. "Yeah, obviously." He didn't smell anything different in the air, this cat must be of this clan as well, or like him, a loner who was starting to smell like them. His ears flattened against his skull and he was tense. He didn't know what this clan cat wanted from him.

The jet she-cat jumped gracefully from the tree and alighted on the ground. She nodded. "I would expect no less from my Clan." They've done well, though maybe been a bit friendly. But Midnight wasn't a bad loner, maybe this odd tom won't be bad either. Though maybe I'm being too soft. She sensed his tenseness and said, "Do not be too angry, they are doing their jobs as Clan cats."

Her Clan? If Halloween heard her right, then this must be the leader they were talking about. Well even if he wasn't being taken prisoner, he still was meeting the leader anyway. Can't say he was really excited, especially since he was in a very undignified situation right now. Well he certainly must have made a good impression on her... "Heh, I suppose so." He wasn't mad at them directly, he was just over all angry now that he was being run out of one of his favorite hunting ground. His ears lifted off his skull a little. "I assume you're the leader then? The way you talk of your clan and the cats in it makes me think so." He inquired curiously.

Ringpaw felt slightly startled when Jadestar came down from above, but swiftly recovered himself. "Hi there, Jadestar!" He mewed cheerily. "Raptoreyes asked me to, uh, chase 'im out, I guess. After I found him, that is." He didn't want ALL the credit going to his mentor.

Jadestar nodded. "I am the leader of IslandClan, my name is Jadestar." She curled her tail around her sleek frame, and turned as Ringpaw approached. "Greetings, Ringpaw," She mewed. She nodded encouragingly. "Good job." She turned back to Halloween. "I see that you're a loner, as I have never seen you before and you don't smell like another Clan. Normally, we would chase out any loner or rogue found in our territory. However," She continued, thinking about Midnight, "You have proven yourself to be a brave cat, and for this, I will offer you shelter in my Clan. Whether or not you choose to stay, that is your decision. And this doesn't mean you're automatically a warrior in IslandClan. You will have to earn the trust of the Clan; this is only if you wish to stay as a warrior. It would be criminal to simply chase you away and give you no credence for your bravery. It is your decision alone." She closed her eyes a second, and opened them again quickly.

Jadestar listened calmly as Raptoreyes spoke. She nodded understandingly. "I knew not all of our Clan would agree. I have watched him, and it seems all he was searching for was food. But his prowess shows more promise than than. And just as a reminder," She said softly, "It is his decision whether or not he shall stay with the Clan. However, if he chooses not, he shall need to find a different hunting ground. We cannot spare fresh-kill to every loner who visits." Her heart warmed a little at the sight of Raptoreyes praising her apprentice silently.
