Lying on her mat of twigs and straw, Rainstar, leader of Mountainclan, reflected on the problems of the clan. Her warriors were horrendously low in numbers, and there were currently no Kits to be taken on as apprentices, or even queens for that matter. If a different clan were to attack, who would defend the camp? Answer= Nobody. As tough as her clan was, they would be no match for a clan with greater numbers. She shuddered at the thought of the next Gathering. Someone would note their weakness, and then they were in for it. In fact, Rainstar was suprised they hadn't already been overthrown.
She sent a silent prayer to Starclan, for guidence and help, and stood up and streched out the kinks in her long body. Then prowling forward around the rock that jutted from the ground in front of her nest for privacy, she turned her head, looking for her deputy. Where was he? "Scarface!" she yowled, hoping he hadn't gone hunting or patroling (Though currently she didn't really see the point of the latter). Rainstar needed to discuss some matters with him.

Instead of the large tom Scarface, a small gray and white she-cat came to the entrance door. She had heard Rainstar calling out for the deputy, but he was out on a patrol.
"Scarface should be back soon," Brighteyes stated calmly. She remained just around the rock that provided Rainstar's nest with privacy. She didn't want to act as if she were intruding on the leader's den or her potential conversation with the absent Deputy. She was the Clan's Medicine Cat, though, so Rainstar would more than likely brush off her sudden appearance.
"I just happened to pass by when I heard you call for Scarface..." Brighteyes explained further, "Just going to look for some supplies..." She heaved a soft sigh. It was getting hard to look for what she needed in the mountains, but she rarely dared to venture off the rocks to the green land below. She usually would make her brother, Graypatch, go with her if she did. She knew it was safe down there, yet she was worried... she felt so open and targeted with no rocks to surround her down at the base. And she would always feel as if there were a set of eyes watching her from somewhere... The Medicine Cat shivered. She shouldn't allow herself to feel this way, but it was difficult. She assumed she was just too use to her mountain-home.

Slowly making his way back toward the camp high in the mountains, Scarface jumped when the rocks gave out and make holes. To him, he thought this to be the best defended clan out there. The rocks where like a part of him, a part of the clan, and he knew that if someone else tried to climb its deathly slopes, they would fall.
Scarface sighed as he made his way into the camp walls. He always enjoyed climbing the mountain side, even if no one else knew, which was for the better. He frowned, not many cats were around anymore. The clan was dwindling.
He heard the faint call of his name as he walked in. Was that Rainstar? Scarface walked over to her den and poked his head in and noticed Brighteyes right inside the den. He inched in a tiny bit more and noticed Rainstar. "Did you call for me Rainstar?"

Rainstar nodded silently at Scarface as he emerged from the scrub, and was pleased that Brighteyes had come too. Good, more of the clan to know of their problem, even though it was obvious. Perhaps Rainstar would call a clan meeting later, despite there not being much cats anyway. She settled herself on her haunches, and begun to address them, holding their gaze with a high head.
"As i'm sure that both of you are aware, Mountainclan has a problem. This year, Leaf-bare is harder than ever, especially being so high on the mountain. Our clan's numbers are lesser than usual, and without cats, there is less time to go hunting, and more danger of being invaded, even in the location of our camp.
"Thus," she said, and sighed. 'This is it, we are desperate' she thought, and blurted out a crazy idea she had."We need more cats, so what I am thinking is that we go and search the mountain for and loners. If any are found, they must be brought back to the camp." Rainstar's pride was damaged by her own words. Taking in loners, disgraceful. However, to emphasise the point, she added, "Five cats are not enough for a clan."

Brighteyes lowered her head for a moment to think. The Clan was suffering, the weather and kitting conditions had not been fair to them... She could see why Rainstar spoke with such desperation in her eyes and was bold enough to speak of finding rogues and loners.
"Hm." The Medicine Cat murmured thoughtfully. The situation made her think back to a dream she recently had, but she wasn't sure if it applied to this problem...

Alderfur dug his white claws into the hard-packed earth. He was so bored! No other elders to swap tales with, no apprentices around to torment. . . He gritted his teeth in frustration. Allowing his amber eyes to dart around the camp from his den, Alderfur flicked his ears forward as he heard Rainstar's announcement. "Search the mountain for loners!" He snarled bad-temperedly. The gray tom stood and padded stiffly over to where his leader was sitting. "I never thought I would live to call you crazy, Rainstar! Conditions are bad enough as it is. We can't deal with idiot loners who have no idea what loyalty means. Besides," And at this he lashed his tail, "I'm only 105 moons! I can hunt and fight just as good as any of you."

Goldkit, along with several other cats, strode through passes and bounded across landscape as they made their way to the MountainClan camp. Goldkit, despite herself, purred. She was sure it wasn't audible to everyone else, but she couldn't help it. A family!! She would have a family in MountainClan.
Approaching the camp, she trotted into it with a little spring to her step. She was almost a member now! She was so overjoyed.

Snowpaw reached the elders den first to drop the vole off to Alderfur. "Hello Alderfur!" he mewed, "I got this for you." And before he let Alderfur give a reply he rushed off to Rainstar's den to see what will happen to Goldkit.

Graypatch followed from behind, watching the others carry on before him. He honestly wondered how Rainstar would handle this... ((now we wait! Fluffy isn't on as often as we are it seems xD))

Crystalpool had followed the rest of the cats from the back. She wanted MountainClan to have more members, but another apprentice would have to suffer from not having a mentor. Crystalpool was silent on the way to Rainstar's den. She had watched Snowpaw give Alderfur the vole. She smiled slightly then made her way to her leader's den.
