An old white tom was laying outside his den munching on one of the fish that a apprentice had brought him only moments before. A grey patch could be seen on the right side of his head that ave him his name as Greypatch.
Greypatch was thinking about the past as he always does when he eats. Back when his sister Hawkpaw was still in the Clan. But he wasn't even sure that she would go by that name anymore or even if she was still alive. It had been many moons since her banishment for breaking the warrior code to the extreme.
"What ever came over you to do that?" he asked himself out loud. He missed his sister, but even if there are no others to remember her or even speak of her with, at least he still has his memories. He wouldn't even expect Ironfeather to remember her even if he was moons older.

Ashtail was nearby, the small she-cat grooming herself silently. She was a rather passive Warrior but she was talkative if you caught her in the right mood, and she was fiercely loyal. Her bright green eyes glanced every so often to the skies. She sensed a storm was coming. Ocassionally, she'd glance at Greypatch. The elder seemed deep in thought...

Greypatch looked up from his meal and noticed Ashtail glancing up at the skies and then sometimes at him. He looked up as well and felt the storm. It felt like it was gonna be a bad one. He slowly got up with his aching bones and left what he had of his meal behind to pad over to the she-cat.
"Hello Ashtail. Rain will be coming soon," he said as he laid down near her.

Ashtail smiled kindly at the older tom. She wrapped her thin tail around her petite body and nodded in agreement about the storm.
"Yes, I can see storm clouds off in the distance... and Whitecrest is constantly complaining about a storm coming. He says he can sense it somehow."
Ashtail spoke fondly of her brother, smirking a bit as she spoke about his complaing. Not many in the camp knew how Whitecrest was like on a personal level. In front of the Clan, he was a loyal, serious, respectable Warrior.

"Maybe StarClan granted him that gift. He always reminded me of my sister for some reason, back when she was kinder that is..." Greypatch said. he gave Ashtail a soft lick by her ear. "You are both great warriors you know. It's good to see the Clan growing strong again."

Ashtail, slightly embarassed by the comment of being a good Warrior, began to randomly groom herself.
"Oh... thanks..." She said shyly yet gratefully as she licked a forepaw.
Ashtail wondered about Greypatch's sister. She had heard some stories about her, but Ashtail didn't like to believe everything told to her. The retelling of a story could ruin the real meaning of the original very easily. She had never actually heard Greypatch himself discuss the happenings of his sister. So the she-cat didn't know the perfect details, she just knew it wasn't a good story...

Greypatch gave a chuckle, but soon he had that gaze again as he was lost in his thoughts. "It had been a day like this when it happen," he mumbled, "All calm with a dreadful storm heading this way. If only we had a way to get more prey back then. It couldn't be helped since leafbare was harsh that season. Many starved and all the fish in the ocean stay further out in the warmer waters. Maybe if the fish had stayed she wouldn't have done what she did."

Ashtail frowned. Prey was always scarce, but she had heard about the bad years that happened before she was even born. It surely would've caused conflict and tension within the Clan with all the cats going hungry... it was awful sometimes but they had been fortunate during her lifetime.
"That's ... unfortunate." The she-cat said, unsure of what else to say. How could she politely and properly respond to something she could never understand? Whitecrest had never, and would never, do anything vile or evil towards her or anyone in the Clan. Ashtail couldn't even begin to imagine how it would make her feel.

"I guess no one told you the story then. I guess it is too disturbing for most," Greypatch said. His eyes glazed with pain from the memory. "I think you are ready to here why she is gone." He took a deep breath and looked at Ashtail. "Due to great hunger from the lack of prey, Hawkpaw went out to hunt one day to try for more food, though she did not intend to bring it back. I warned her not to do it. But that wasn't the cause, it also had seem that a queen's kit had left the confinment of the camp. We all went searching for her, we found her dead with Hawkpaw over her, with blood on her muzzle. It had seem my sister lost her mind and the current leader, Blackstar banished her from the territory right then and there. She just ran off, but I saw her eyes, they were filled with confusion, anger, surprise, and hatred. I never saw her again after that," Greypatch explained, he flinched when he told the part about what happen to the poor kit. No one deserved that fate, and maybe his sister shouldn't have been let to live.

Dawnheart entered the camp and dropped her catches onto the fresh kill pile. She had caught a good amount of prey considering she had only just left the nursery as a queen but her eyes showed no pride or emotion, just sadness. Although hunting had taken her mind off her only kit and her mate for a while but as she returned to camp her eyes were blank once more. She scanned the camp for her friends but all were out on hunting patrols and busy with other jobs. She suddenly caught sight of Graypatch and Ashtail and almost hurriedly stumbled over to them, settling herself just behind Ashtail and listening to the conversation distractedly.

Ashtail was silent. The story was ghastly... she didn't know how to respond.
"I'm so sorry." She said, her voice choking up a bit. She couldn't imagine having to bear such a memory...

"I am sorry if that affected you in any way Ashtail. It is a hard story to tell and I'm probably the only one left who knew the story fully. I don't think Ironfeather even remembers it anymore since he forgets so much," Greypatch said. He got up on his hanches and started to pad away. "I'm going to take a stroll by the ocean. Please don't mind me and I promise not to stay away from camp long." And with that he exited the camp, feeling older than he did before.

Ashtail frowned. It was awful that he had to bear such a memory about his own sister, but nothing could be done. It had been in the past and StarClan knows why it happened but it had to have been for a reason...
Ashtail rose to four paws and trotted off in the opposite direction. She had duties to tend to... but the story lingered in the back of her mind as she walked off.
