Seraphmoon Information
This thread is about Seraphmoon's basic status and conditions. Also it covers the seperate Clan's unique weather and terrain, as well as surrounding areas. Types of prey and availability are also covered for each area. All this information is to help inform you about the type of area and conditions your cats live in!
Basics
Seraphmoon is strip of land on the coast, southwest from a nearby rural town called Penbrook. Thus, the actual name of this coastline is 'Coast of Penbrook'. However, to Warriors and Kittypets alike the land is known as Seraphmoon (as dubbed by StarClan).
Seraphmoon is a land virtually free of Twolegs. This is for the mere fact that it is difficult to maintain a building on the various land that spawns across the coast. This is even proven by the abandoned house that is now OceanClan's camp. It is nothing but foundation, wore down by the beach weather and slushy grounds that could not support it well enough so the Twolegs took off. Also, it would be a lot of work to construct a road to go down the cliff from Penbrook to the land below. It is possible, but not worth the work. So for the most part, the Clan cats have the land of Seraphmoon to themselves.
Overview for weather and terrain in the Clan territories
All in all, since Seraphmoon is coastal land, all the Clans experience rain quite often. However, each Clan deals with their land and weather in their own manner.
MountainClan's territory is very rocky and dangerous to those who are not used to it. Although somewhat close to Penbrook, Twolegs avoid the area. Weather is no problem to the Clan cats of this territory since they have plenty of shelter from the rocky terrain. One must be especially careful after is has rained. The moisture causes slippery surfaces that can lead to fatal events.
The weather in OceanClan's territory can sometimes be unpredictable with heavy rainfalls and thunder storms since they are right next to the water, but these Clan cats are use to this and seek shelter in their camp which is an abandoned house. OceanClan is Twoleg free, except for in Greenleaf when some young Twolegs venture out to swim. However, this does not occur often.
IslandClan is as it's name implies; an island. It has a Twoleg-made bridge that is fairly old leading from the mainland of the Clan territory to the small island where the heart of the camp is. There are many tunnels and rocks for the cats to hide in. The island is uninhabitable for Twolegs because it is too small and the land is choppy.
The territory of Jungleclan is mostly a large, thick cluster of trees. It is easy to get lost if you can not rely on your sense of smell since every bunch of trees look the same. There are hardly any clearings, and the largest one is in the center of the forest where the cats make camp. They are practically unaffected by weather from their immense amount of shelter. No Twolegs bother with this land for whatever reasons.
Overview of other areas in Seraphmoon
Four Rocks lies in the very centre of Seraphmoon. It is the peaceful gathering place for the Clan cats once a month. It is unknown how the rocks were put there, and why they form such a pattern. It was unlikely Twolegs had ever done it since the rocks are large. The Clan cats explanation is that the warriors of StarClan used their mysterious powers to form it when Seraphmoon was created. Clan cats comment that although the Twolegs explanation is unknown, it is more than likely vague and improper.
Highstones is a the large cave that is visited for special occasions by Clan cats. It has an eerie feeling to it, and is pitch black inside. It's almost impossible to see inside even for a cat, and it's practically a maze. Wild animals are frightened of it and never venture inside, even if weather or danger is pursuing them and they need shelter.
Creepy Cave is a cave at the base of MountainClan's cliffs. The entrance is rather large and there is no light whatsoever filtered in the cave. The cave has never been explored by any cats due to the darkness and mysterious depths. It is often used in stories to scare bad kits.
Big Claw Island is a small, claw-like island that is accessible during low tide. It is considered IslandClan territory, but some cats of OceanClan are trying to lay claim on it. They feel at least half of it should belong to them, since it cuts into part of their territory.
Frog Lake is a fresh water lake that JungleClan uses as drinking and training grounds. It got it's name from the strange amount of frogs that appear in newleaf, which apprentices usually test prowling skills on for fun and for skill purposes.
Overview on prey in Clan territories
MountainClan have to stray from their mountain-like territory to seek food in surrounding lands since there is rarely food waiting for them on the dangerous slopes. They sometimes go to the stream that leads from the waterfall for fish, but not often.
Common - Magpie, Mouse, Pheasant, Shrew, Thrush, Vole
Uncommon - Fish, Rabbit, Ring dove, Sparrow, Swallow
OceanClan live next to the ocean, and eat some of the fish they find in shallow waters. However, they have to first cleanse the fish in small, nearby pools of fresh rain water. These Clan cats have to be very organized to ensure they have enough fish done up ahead of time that are unsalted for the cats to eat. They also hunt in the small forest nearby.
Common - Fish*, Mouse, Shrew, Thrush, Vole
Uncommon - Magpie, Pheasant, Rabbit, Ring dove, Sparrow, Swallow
*there is a variety of fish found from the ocean, as well as the occasional crab and such.
IslandClan sometimes hunt fish, but aren't as fond of the task of 'unsalting' the ocean fish so they go to Shimmering Lake for fresh fish. However, they don't hunt these fish too often since it's just a small lake and the fish need some time to keep multiplying. They have plenty of forestry to hunt in.
Common - Fish, Mouse, Shrew, Thrush, Magpie, Pheasant, Rabbit, Ring dove, Sparrow, Swallow, Vole
JungleClan live in thick forestry so they have plenty to eat in good weather. They rarely ever catch fish from the pond, and they never eat frogs from the pond unless absolutely necessary. They have a strange abundance of mice running around.
Extremely Common - Mouse
Common - Shrew, Thrush, Magpie, Pheasant, Rabbit, Ring dove, Sparrow, Swallow, Vole
Uncommon - Fish, Frogs
Rogue and Loner Territory
Other surrounding areas that are inhabited by Rogues and Loners consist of many different prey and similar weather conditions; however, they are not as close to the salt water so they don't experience as harsh of weather most of the time. The information concerning the land they haunt is generally unknown since Clan cats rarely visit those lands.
