Moonkit followed Pharaoh, laughing and pouncing on his tail.
Silver still gazed joyfully at the kits. "Stone," She said quietly, "They're so beautiful. Might I... be granted the honor of bestowing a name for one of them?" She felt a little like she was intruding, but something whispered the name Drake in her ear as she watched the brown, tan, and white kit.

"Well, I've already decided on one of the names for the kittens, I'll let you and Jaguar name the rest." Stone's tail lightly rested on the slightly fluffy gray and white tom. "I'll name this one Current. So Silver, if you would like to name one, then ask Jaguar, for I have no care of what their names are.

Pharaoh giggled, pulled his small tail out of Moonkit's grasp and waving it in her face. Then he turned and bounced away, slipping nimbly between his mother's paws.

Moonkit laughed and chased after Pharaoh. She tried to run the same way, but she was bigger. It occurred to her with a sad thought that she was now six moons old and should have been apprenticed. But she forgot about her sadness as she ran straight into Egypt's foreleg. "oof!" She backed up, ears twitching embarassedly. "Sorry," She said, averting her gaze. Her shyness could be trouble sometimes.
Silver nodded, ice-blue eyes aglow. She looked to Jaquar and said, "I'd like to name the brown, tan, and white kit Drake." She stared at her paws. "He looks like he'd be a worthy healer for the Clan someday.." She murmured to herself.

Leafsong walked behind Jadestar. She was looking around warily for enemy cats that might appear anytime.
Snowstorm was following Jadestar too,and her claws were unsheathed, ready to attack any opponent.Snowstorm remembered how powerful the DarkClan cats were when she encountered them.

Blackheart ran alongside the group of moving cats and pulled behind just to smooth his fur over his cut. He grimaced at the badly covered scar and used the last of his cobwebs to stop the small trickles of blood that still remained after his long journey. He sighed as he remembered all that had happened recently and quickly stood to run into the group. As soon as he was in sight of the cats he slid soundlessly next to Stone and gave a small grin towards her. "Hey Stone. What's been happening recently?" his voice was smooth.

Pharaoh turned to watch Softkit scale a tree and perch on a branch. He trotted over to the base of the oak, standing on the roots and placing his paws as high up on the trunk as he could manage. "Hey!" He cried, blue eyes sad and confused. "Why are you up there? Don't you like us?" He made an attempt to clamber up to the calico kitten, but fell back in an awkward heap.

"Yes Thorn." he said quickly, he looked back at Stone and grinned. "I like the name, but you can make the final decision." he turned to Blackheart and gestured with his tail for the tom to follow him. "We are going to go on a hunting patrol so I need you to go find a few others who aren't tired enough to come with us." he told the tom,"Meet me back near the entrance when we are ready." he turned around and ran for the entrance to wait for the others.

Egypt, feeling really worthless, padded after Jaguar. "Hey, I'm coming on the patrol."Egypt said, her voice deep and yet, pretty, it had a certain vibrato to it. It was more of a demand then a suggestion. Egypt had a way of telling someone somthing in a nice way, and yet, always got her meaning acoss. Her beautiful spotted coat shone in the light the way it used to. She had just finished grooming her coat.

Pharaoh frowned. "But I can climb." He wiggled his haunches and launched himself upwards. This time he managed to get a clawhold, and scrabbled up several inches before he began to slide. Determined, he pushed with his back paws until he was perched on a slender branch that dipped precariously under his weight. "See!" He called to Softkit far below. "I can cli--" he broke off with a terrified screech as the branch began to crack. "Mama, help!" he yowled, claws hanging tight in his fright.

Moonkit giggled as Pharaoh climbed the tree, but when the branch cracked, her giggle turned into a scream. She knew her own weight might break the branch off, and she didn't know what to do.
Mariah burst out of the den with the kits. She heard the yowling of Pharaoh, and saw that the kit was balanced precariously on a breaking branch of a tall tree. If he fell, he could be hurt or worse... She leapt forward, shimmying up the tree as quickly as she could. Bark fell from her claws and into her eyes, but she blinked as much of it out of her eyes as she could and reached the left end of the branch. Mariah reached out and grasped Pharaoh by the scruff just as the branch gave way to the calico's weight.
She fell towards the ground and twisted so that Pharaoh wouldn't be hurt. Silver had emerged, and stifled a scream as she saw her surrogate mother fall to the ground. She surged forward, but helplessly watched as her mentor and guide hit the ground with a sickening thud. She tentatively stepped forward, but forgot herself and leapt forward, burying her muzzle into her mentor's fur. She felt no sign of breathing and tears ran from her eyes, soaking Mariah's calico fur. She stood and somberly trotted over to Pharaoh. "You'll be alright," She said, voice hollow. But Mariah did it for the kit. "She had a noble heart," Silver murmured.

Pharaoh stared at the unmoving calico lump. It had all happened so quickly. . . And all because he had wanted to prove that he was as good as Softkit. His ears drooped, blue eyes blank. He had not known the she-cat very well, but like most cats, enjoyed the company of just about everyone. "It my fault." he said dully, and lowered himself onto his haunches with his muzzle pressed into the groove between Mariah's head and neck. He squeezed his eyes shut, huddling close to the still-warm fur, ignoring Silver and Moonkit.

Silver looked up. "It's not your fault, Pharaoh," The silver she-cat mewed. "She... she was getting on in years, though she didn't want to admit it, and lived a long happy life. After all, what would we have done if you fell?" She gazed up at the starlit sky. Is she with you? Though most DarkClan cats did not believe in StarClan, Silver did, because she had seen her mother who said she was from StarClan. A blue-gray shape stood nearby, and Silver glanced over at her mother's spirit, not having noticed it before. "She is with us," Riverfur mewed before turning and disappearing.
Moonkit had seen Riverfur, having an unnatural knack for detecting spirits of StarClan. She buried her muzzle in Pharaoh's shoulder fur. "I thought you would be hurt!" She whimpered a little at the idea of that happening. She looked up at Mariah. "She was real brave, even if I didn't know her."
((Hey, when are the Clans going to arrive?))

Jaquar smiled at Egypt's demand to go on the hunting patrol, and he was grateful that she wanted to go. He said nothing though, as when he saw Mariah's dead body on the ground he grimanced. 'StarClan be with her.' he prayed silently. He especially watched Silver as he knew Mariah and her had been close, he felt a pang of sympathy for her even though he knew nothing could be done now. He walked over to Silver and sat beside her with cloudy eyes. "Will you be ok?" he asked her softly.
