Stormpaw couldn't help but laugh at himself.
"What haven't I done to upset her?" He admitted. "I'm always taking off... not listening to her... I don't really do it to bug her... I just... I need time to explore on my own! It makes me feel so great! And I climb the trees and it's so exciting and I can see forever up there!

Silverstripe laughed for a second. "You are very adventorous!" she said, looking at Stormpaw. "And, besides, you may be able to do that kind of stuff if you have extra time when hunting once you become a warrior. But now, you must concentrate on doing your duties and doing the best you can so you can become a warrior. Got that?" she said, smiling.

"I guess..." Stormpaw said, half-moping. He randomly kicked at a twig with his forepaw as he reflected back on the conversation they just had. Suddenly, a figure of the DarkClan cat sprouted back into his head.
"Ahh..." He said suddenly and rather quietly. Why wouldn't he get that smelly cat out of his head?! [/size] |

Silverstripe's smile faded as she shared Stormpaw's thoughts. "As I said before, that was a DarkClan cat. They might have killed you....." she said, looking up to the sky.

Stormpaw tilted his head inquisitively, "Killed me? I wasn't doing anything to even upset him!!! And he was on our land, it's not like I was on his..." The apprentice argued.
The grey tom's mind was rather naive due to his young age. He didn't understand the idea of killing for no reason... but unfortunately, he would have to accept the fact some cats killed for fun. [/size] |

"Some cats kill because they had a hard life or are just mad at the world," she said, choosing her words carefully. She was looking ahead of her, though her eyes were clouded and gave away the fact that she was there, and listening and talking, though looking but not seeing.

Stormpaw looked to the deputy and partially understood. He still had a lot to learn about the Clans and being a Warrior, and boy did he know it. He couldn't imagine being Deputy! He was struggling enough to be a good apprentice!

Silverstripe was yanked from her thoughts by the apprentice's question. "If we have strong cats, a gifted medicine cat, and hope in our hearts, then we will win. We have all of those things, so yes, I believe we will win,"

Stormpaw smiled. It sounded like they had a great chance. Then the apprentice recalled something. He had gone to a meeting once and had met a certain cat that the others in the Clan spoke gravely about.
"What about that Tigereye guy?" Stormpaw asked. He couldn't help but frown a bit.
Stormpaw could recall how the IslandClan deputy looked under the moonlight at that gathering. He was large and had dark facial features with glowing, menacing eyes. His paws were giant and his frame was coated with fluffy fur, but you could tell he was mucular and didn't bare a single scar. Stormpaw had heard someone tell him a story once that Tigereye had fought many battles and had never received a scar because he was so powerful and unbeatable. He had heard another story of how a JungleClan cat had nicked the IslandClan cat's ear when he was still a Warrior. The mark had been small and hardly noticeable on the tom's ear, but it was said that Tigereye was so furious from receiving a mark that he tore the JungleClan cat apart.
Stormpaw shivered. He never had seen Tigereye other than at that gathering, but really, he didn't want to!!! [/size] |

Silverstripe nodded. "Then why don't we try that? Let me know if it cheers her up," said Silverstripe in a calm voice that surprised even her. She herself didn't know she had such good advise!! She looked up from the tom and realized that they were at the camp entrance. It was nice talking with Stormpaw....but that DarkClan cat still worries me. I'll have to tell Taintedstar! thought the young she-cat.

Cloud had been watching the scene quietly, tucked in the trees, her turquoise eyes sparkling. When Silverstripe uttered her command, she stayed put and just flicked her tail, waiting for the other to know she was there.
