A grey tabby pelt shivered at a perticulary cold breeze from the north. Mistpelt sighed, dragging her feet towards the fresh-kill pile, so she could get some sleep. Something about leaf-bare always made her drowsy, though it was rather inconvientient. Mistpelt hurriedly rushed to her, hopefully, warm den to get some much needed rest. Plopping down in her spot, sleep immediatly overcame the she-cat.
Dreams overtook her quickly, at first mostly mist surrounding her. Though, suddenly, the mist cleared and the white pelt of Deathclaw immediatly soother her. His mis-matched eyes comforted her as she grinned. Running towards her friend, she tried to call out the tom's name. But to no success, nothing came out. She tried again, stopping in her tracks. Nothing. Wha...what's happening?! thought Mistpelt, her green eyes widening.
A flash blinded the she-cat and she fell to the ground. Regaining her balance and standing back up, she looked around to observe her surroundings. Everything was darker, though not an evil dark. Deathclaw was gone.
Though, immediatly, she was drawn to the sky for comfort, and with a silent sigh of relief, she saw Silverpelt glittering over her, the indigo sky as a backdrop. "Mistpelt...." said a soft voice behind her and Mistpelt's stomach immediatly dropped where she stood. Quickly, she unsheathed her claws and turned to face a strange cat, who was currently exaiming her silent hissing and spitting.
Mistpelt looked at her opponent, a dusty grey she-cat, who seemed to have stars stuck into her pelt, like burrs during new-leaf. Though, what surprised Mistpelt the most was the stranger's eyes. They were so familiar....Like a spring green, though they could freeze over easily. Wait....how do I know that? Just who is this?! thought Mistpelt, her haunches raised, prepared to leap.
"I didn't think you'd recognize me...." said the she-cat softly. Her voice didn't show any sorrow, though simple amusment. Just what was so funny?! "I'm the one who gave birth to you, Mistpelt....I am your mother...Streampelt...." said the she-cat calmly.
Mistpelt's eyes widened, by the rather specific response to her thoughts. She stopped for a moment. The reason she had known the fact about the she-cat's eyes....And the reason was so familiar...Was that they were her eyes!! That's impossible...My mother died when she was giving birth to me... thought Mistpelt, reminding herself of the unfortunent tragedy.
"I know....Mistpelt, hear me out...." said Streampelt...her mother....
My thoughts...You can hear them? Just where am I? thought Mistpelt, grasping a better view on this odd thought-speak.
"You are in a half-world, my dear," said Streampelt. "A world of dreams, to be precise. I have come with a very important message...."
Whom from? asked Mistpelt, narrowing her eyes. Was this all real? Or....real as a dream could get? Or simply her imagination run wild?
"StarClan," said her mother, rather quickly. "I don't have much time, so I'll make this brief. Tonight is the new moon, my dear...You must go to Bluefalls at midnight...That should be soon after the time you wake up....Other cats will be there, but they are allies. A great evil is coming for the Clans, and you....You, my dear, are chosen to help aid the Clans...." said Streampelt.
Mistpelt swallowed. Her? Plain old Mistpelt?
"I'm afraid I must go now. Be brave, my sweet. Your destiny has been laid in front of you by the will of StarClan....I will always be with you. I'm just a simple dream away....." said her mother, still quickly.
W-wait...! she thought. Please...I can't do this!!
"You must," said her mother, a little forcefully. "If you do not....If ever any one of the chosen cats refuse, all six Clans will be doomed. All of us. OceanClan, MountainClan, JungleClan, IslandClan, DarkClan, and even StarClan will be doomed......I must leave....I love you...." said her mother, touching noses with her daughter.
Mistpelt wanted to protest, say something, say that she loved her mother as well, though as soon as her mother's nose touched hers, she was brutally wrenched out of her half-world...The dream world....
Breathing heavily, Mistpelt looked around quickly. The OceanClan camp....Home....And sleeping cats who will be very angry if I wake them up.....With a jolt, she noticed the moon-less sky. Midnight....the moonless sky....
Mistpelt took a deep breath, quietly sneaking out of the Warrior's den. she had to try. Otherwise, everyone....would be doomed.
Taking one last look at the sleeping figure of Deathclaw, Mistpelt instantly felt sorrow in her heart. Pain. Though, with all the strength she had, she turned away and quietly sneaked out of the camp, heading towards Bluefalls.
