Current’s paws silently carried his figure within the confines of the den, wedging himself into a corner thick with warm straw. His body was tired with a drugged reaction, though his eyes couldn’t stay wider as he traced his paw around in front of himself. “Come on, close your eyes.” Sleep had never come easy to the Darkclan Tom, but as soon as he forced his eyes closed, his mind entered a dream world filled with nightmarish details.
Beneath his paws churned black liquid, his silent scream muted by the crashing of a waterfall in the background. Looking up from his terrifying position, made his heart beat even faster. There was no where to run, it all was just a vast ocean like place. But did Ocean’s have waterfalls? The dark gray cat reared back and exploded, attempting to alert somebody, anybody to his frightful position.
No sound came. No body came. Though suddenly he heard his name being called, it sounded like he had imagined it, but as he turned around to face south, his mother stood there. She seemed at ease with the water, as though she had lived atop it her whole life. How could she hear me if I can’t even hear myself? Current thought suspiciously.
Stone shook her head as her body illuminated, slimming down in both mass and in size. Suddenly, there stood the kit form of his mother, and another cat hovering above her. Current’s paws attempted to lunge to protect Stone, but his efforts were worthless as his body remained where it was. Though as the other cat looked up at him, the love dwelling in her dark gray eyes swooned Current. Whomever that cat was, she had intense feelings for the gray and white tabby. This was the first time that the Darkclan Tom took a second and observed the female.
She was pure tabby black with a white mark above her right eye. Her body was thin, thinner then any cat should be, though her scent was only slightly familiar. No doubt she had once lived in Darkclan, when the darker times had been in affect.
“Do not fear young one, I am not going to harm you.” IT was the first time that the female cat had spoken up, her eyes piercing through Currents motionless body.
“Who are you?” Current sidestepped the promise, trying to ask the questions that would gain some distance somewhere.
Somehow, the she-cat heard him yet again. “My name is Shaydew, I am Stone’s mother.” As she said her sentence, she ran her black tabby tail over the small kit body of Current’s mother.
But for some reason, his fur bristled. “You left her! How could you do that?” He had no idea where the sudden anger had risen from, or even how he got the clue she had left Stone. Though one thing was sure, even Current could hear the anger in his voice over the falls.
“I did not leave her, I was murdered,” There was a note of anger in the Shaydew’s voice, though the sound of silent agony was stronger then that. “And that is irrelevant. I come here, to tell you an important message.” Shaydew said soberly.
“And…”
“You must go to Blue Falls; there you will meet other cats. There is a danger in Seraphmoon, and you are one of the chosen cats that are needed to defeat it.” Shaydew watched Current’s reaction, though surprisingly he held himself maturely.
“Fine.”
Shaydew nodded, though gave a saddened look back down to her mewing kit, a tear running from her eye and landing atop her small head. Then, she rasped her tongue over her ear with slight protest, and she faded away into the background of the waves. And finally, it all went black.
Current couldn’t see, though he knew he was still dreaming, and suddenly he fell. Water filled his lungs and mouth as he tried to scream for Shaydew to come back. But even under water, a sound pierced his scared ears. A howl.
He awoke coughing, though silenced himself quickly thinking about what he was about to do, he had to leave the den. Current’s big paws led him out of the den, but not before glancing back regretfully to the den which his mother always occupied, he felt a sadness for Shaydew, though there was no doubt in his mind she had watched her kit grow up through the years.
Then he left.
