Ringtail laughed. "Okay, fine. I should get Blackpatch to show you how she does it, though." He backed up a bit and crouched, watching. This time Nightpaw would be prepared and expecting; he might modify the attack slightly this time.

Ringtail shot forward again, this time more to the left rather than head-on. He zig-zagged to the right, then whisked around and leaped.

Nightpaw managed to dodge Ringtail's attack in time."Can I try an attack?" he asked Ringtail.

"Sure, why not?" Ringtail sat down on the grass, wrapping his long tail around his paws. He fixed Nightpaw with an intense yellow-green gaze as he waited.

Nightpaw paused for a while,crouching warily,and in the next second,he started racing towards Ringtail,constantly watching her movements.When he was about to reach Ringtail,he leaped towards him.

Blackpaw shook his wet coat off and looked back down at Blackpatch, his eyes widened in terror. "Blackpatch." His voice came o ut in a hushed whispered as he looked the warrior over. "Stay with me Blackpatch." He called softly to her as he began to run through what he knew about herbs and medicine. "Cobwebs to stop the bleeding and..." His face buried into a snarl as he tried to remember another herb. 'You know this, it shouldn't be that hard.' His eyes snapped open again as he remembered the other herb. "Feverfew, it treats head wounds!" He remembered excitedly as grabbed Blackpatch gently by her scruff and pulled her into the grass and shrubs.
"You're going to be fine." He coaxed as he began to look cobwebs, when he found one he batted gently onto his paw and began to apply it to Blackpatch's head wound first. "Now for Feverfew, I hope there's some on this island." He said aloud to himself as he looked pitfully over Blackpatch. "We should have gone back, at least even if you had ended up like this I could get you back to camp. It's all my fault." He body shuddered as tears rolled down his dark muzzle, soaking the ground. He let out long, loud yowl of pain and disappointment as he he still cried.

Leafsong,whom was gathering herbs,spotted Blackpaw and Blackpatch.She immediately raced forward towards both of them. "What happened to Blackpatch?" she asked Blackpaw.

Blackpaw spun around as he saw leafsong appear, the fur on his back on end. "She.. we.. were swimming to the island and we got caught in some really bad currents. Blackpatch went under and bumped her head against some barnacles. I was able to get to shore and put some cobwebs on her wound, but I haven't gotten the chance to go and get some feverfew for her." The words flowed out in an exapperated tone, as he looked half dead towards Leafsong.

"I happen to some feverfew here," Leafsong said,dropping the pile of herbs she had collected on the floor.

"Thank Starclan." He prayed with a sigh of relief as he gave Leafsong a thankful smile. "I'm glad you're here, who knows what might have happened if you didn't show up."

Ringtail shot forward, bracing himself against Nightpaw's charge. He grabbed Nightpaw's scruff, flipping the smaller cat over onto the ground. "Not bad," he commented, sitting down. "You almost had me. Try feinting to one side next time."
Blackpatch's head lolled back, her jaws open. More blood trailed slowly down her tongue, and her yellow eyes rolled back in her skull. Her flank still rose and fell, but weakly, slowly. She could barely hear Blackpaw and Leafsong. She wanted to tell them to stop worrying, that it was already too late, but her body wasn't responding to her head.

Nightpaw nodded.He crouched again,preparing to attack.
"It's a good thing you were here," Leafsong meowed warmly to Blackpaw.Then,glancing at Blackpatch,she continued ,"I think we should bring Blackpatch back to camp first." while pressing more cobwebs on Blackpatch's wounds.

He laid down beside Blackpath, his eyes cold and vacant. "Ok, but do you think she'll be alright?" He asked catiously as he looked down at Blackpatch, guilt swelling inside him.

Blackpatch managed a garbled snarl in Blackpaw's direction, spitting up blood and water as she did so. Even close to death she was still prickly. "S'all s . . stupid," she spat, her voice a choked, mangled mess. "Don' waste it . . . Leaf . . Song . ."Her breathing became a quick, uneven rasp from the effort of talking.
