A Day in IslandClan

[Honorable Riri]

Skyheart watched the scene before her with silent solemnity. She sighed. This scene played in her head everyday. Death at it's worst. The day it took in her mom, Skyheart left camp to cry in peace. She went behind a tree, and no one could find her. She stayed out of camp and when she had come back, her dad got attacked by a badger while he was looking for her. He died for her. So when her warrior name was given to her...she used the first part as recognition to her mother and father in the sky.

_{Jadestar watched the two apprentices skid to a halt below the Highrock with humor glinting in her leaf-green eyes. She listened a little, awaiting the rest of the Clan to join them beneath the tall stone that served as the Clan's meeting place. Pausing a moment to ready herself for the ceremony, she watched the sky for a moment. It was dark, and seemed to promise rain. "Blackpaw, please step forward," the leader called regally. "Let it be known that Blackpaw was asessed by Blackpatch, and deemed ready to become a full-fledged Warrior." She adressed the entire Clan. "He has proven his courage and good heart many times over, and I am proud to name him an IslandClan Warrior. Blackpaw," She adressed the apprentice again. "Do you promise to uphold the Warrior code and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"}

[Lunar]

Blackpaw stepped forward and sat down in front of his leader. "I do Jadestar." He said firmly as he sat up straight and regally, his eyes glanced for a second at he sky, the dark clouds hovering over seemed to wait as if the ceremony should be finished without rain.

<sub>The clouds parted for a moment, to allow a little more light to flood the clearing. "Then by the power of StarClan, I give you your Warrior name. From this day forward, you will be known as Blackwish. StarClan honors your bravery and selflessness, and welcomes you as a full Warrior." She continued to stand on the Highrock, for there was another announcement. "Unfortunately, not all news is happy. As most of you all know, we have lost one of our beloved Warriors today. Blackpatch has gone to join StarClan's ranks, and will be sorely missed. We will all honor and cherish her memory. But with the addition of one more Warrior today, things are not all as bad as they seem, and IslandClan will remain strong." She stepped off the Highrock, feeling as though there was something, though not in the meeting, that she forgot, though she couldn't put a paw on exactly what it was. "Congratulations, Blackwish," She meowed gently, and felt that impending feeling that something had been forgotten. Trotting towards the entrance of the camp, she turned and gave one more reassuring look to Blackwish before leaving.

[Lunar]

'Tonight I will have to sit vigil, and will do it for Blackpatch and for my clan.' Blackwish told himself as watched Jadestar walk away. He turned his yellow eyes to the sky, the dark couds rolling and turning above as the wind blew through the camp, a single leaf blowing in the breeze. Blackwish watched it carefully as it disappeared up into the sky in a matter of seconds. "IslandClan will become strong again, and will flourish like an island rose." He spoke to himself as the wind swept the words gently away from him and carried them up into the sky just like the leaf. He stood up and began to walk over to the entrance of IslandClan's camp as he felt a single raindrop fall onto his head, soothing the skin below.

Skyheart watched as Blackwish was made a warrior. She smiled, a bit of sadness washing over her normally cool attitude. She sniffed a bit and sent many prayers to StarClan that Blackpatch made it to StarClan. 'With no doubt, she probably did,' thought Skyheart. She padded to the warrior's den to catch a wink of sleep, and she would congratulate Blackwish in the morning, when she was ready.

[Sable]

"Blackwish! Blackwish!" Ringtail's yowl was the first to welcome the black tom. He smiled and flicked Blackwish's ear with his tail as he turned and padded towards the warriors' den. "See you in the morning, then," he called. Ordinarily, Ringtail would have sat vigil with Blackpatch's body. But tonight, he got the feeling that Blackwish wanted to be alone.

"Blackwish! Blackwish!" Crestpaw chanted. This was one of the best parts of being a clan cat. She felt pain as she wished that Lepordkit was here. She shook that thought away. This was a time to celebrate, not remember. " Congrats warrior. You'll do a fine job. " she said, then wandered off to find a rock for star gazing.

[Lunar]

"Thank you, both of you." Blackwish called out to both of them as they quickly disappeared from his sight. He sat down at the entrance, looking up towards the sky again, a smile on his dark face as another raindrop fell onto his right ear.

Crestpaw sighed and pearched on the rock she had been on earlyer. I can't belive I actually told Blackwish what happened, she thought. Should I have really told him? What if he acts diffrently around me? What if he tells someone? All these questions spun in Crestpaws head. She felt light headed. To avoid blacking out, she layed down on the rock and turned her head to the sky, waiting for night to come. Her cold, ice blue eyes never wandered away from the same spot. Too many questions were in the apprentice's head. She defenitly needed a rest. A rain drop fell on her nose. Why not nap now? Crestpaw thought as she closed her eyes and drifted into a dose.

Skyheart awoke to a bright sun. She went over to Blackwish."Congrats! It's nice to have yet another warrior join in the warrior's den." She purred and went off to hunt for the pile.

Crestpaw awoke with a gasp, looking up at the afternoon sky. She had had a dream about Lepordkit calling out to her in the territory, near the sea. Crestpaw jumped off the rock, racing to the entrance. The apprentice had ment to go with her so she could train, but now that she was gone, she had to catch up. She knew that Skyheart had gone to hunt, so if she stayed near by, she could pick up her sent, then she could train.

[Lunar]

Blackwish smiled as Skyheart congradulated him, but he still didn't speak a word. It was as if the vigil and ceremony had sucked the words out of him, if but for the moment. He watched Crestpaw scamper out of the camp and he chuckled at he apprentice's urgency to follow Skyheart. 'I wondered if I should go ask Jadestar what I should go do now?' He asked himself with a quick glance over at the leader's den, she still hadn't returned from last night, so he turned his gaze to the freshkill pile. It had gone from full to little to nothing in a single night, yet again. "If I run fast enough I can catch up with Skyheart and Crestpawn and join them on a patrol." He told himself encouragingly as he bolted out of the camp and after the fresh scents laid out by Crestpaw and Skyheart.

Skyheart came back into camp with a heavy sigh. Even an apprentice and a newly made warrior were hitting it off. She longed to wonder what love felt like, if only for a day. She went over to the freshkill pile and randomly selected a starling. She didn't usually eat bird, but today was...er....different.

Ringtail stretched luxuriously as he stepped out of the warriors' den, feeling the smooth tug of his muscles as he arched his back and gave a great yawn, showing sharp white teeth. He shook a few scraps of bedding from his spotted tabby and white fur, then sauntered lazily over to the fresh-kill pile.
