She grinned as she saw Wildheart and his feather filled mouth. "You should talk to Raintstar? Is that what you said Feathermouth?" she said as she walked up to the warrior. "Do you know where I could find Rainstar though?" she asked him a little more seriously, but still with a faint laugh.

Wildheart glared at her playfully, then set the feathery bird back down. "Come on," he said, "I'll ask if I can take you back to the top of Bluefalls. That is what you want, isn't it?" He looked down at the smaller cat.

Wildheart looked surprised, then thoughtful. He was silent as a calculating expression came into his eyes. "Hmm," he murmured, "The Clans could always use more cats. But what can you do? You're unused to the rough terrain; you'd most likely need to start as an apprentice with a mentor -- if you're accepted." He sat down and flicked his tail toward Rainstar's den. "Probably in there," he mewed.

Alderfur growled slightly as he wandered back into the camp, his gray fur dusty, and grit clinging to his whiskers. Sighing, he flopped down on his side in his den, which was devoid of other elders, as usual. The stillness did not last long; soon he went back to his restless habit of sheathing and unsheathing his ivory claws, digging small trenchs in the hardpacked ground.

"I may be unused to the terrain, but I can learn quicker than any other cat who was born a kittypet. Also, how old did you think I was? I mean, I'm only 6 moons, most cats my age would be an apprentice." she said over her shoulder as she ran towards Rainstar's den. She looked over at Alderfur and smiled. 'Old yet youthful.' she thought quietly.

Wildheart nodded and picked up his bird, sinking his teeth into the flesh. He ate without tasting, mind on other things. After finishing, he padded to the fresh-kill pile and picked out a small mouse, which he took to Alderfur.
Alderfur twitched an ear as Wildheart came near, dropping a mouse at his paws. The old tom snorted, but ate just the same. Wildheart laid down and began carefully grooming the gray cat's head.
